📦 Shipping Policy

🕷️ When We Ship


We ship live animals on the following days:
📅 Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday only

This schedule helps avoid shipping delays over weekends and ensures the spider arrives promptly and safely.

🚛 Shipping Method


All live animal shipments are sent using:
FedEx Priority Overnight via Redline Shipping

  • All orders are shipped to your nearest FedEx Hub for pickup.

  • Home delivery is not available unless we have approved it in writing before purchase.

  • A FedEx Hub offers the safest and most stable temperature environment for live animal shipping.

  • Tracking numbers will be emailed or texted once the shipping label has been generated.                                                                                                       

🌡️ Safe Weather Shipping Only


We do not ship when temperatures are unsafe for the spider.

Typical safe shipping range:

  • Low: 40°F (4°C)

  • High: 85°F (29°C)

If temperatures at either the origin or destination fall outside this range, your order will be placed on weather hold until conditions improve. We ship based on live temperature data, not just forecast highs/lows.

🧊 Packaging & Safety Materials


We assess each shipment and include appropriate materials for safety, including:

  • Heat packs

  • Cold packs

  • Phase change packs

  • Insulated boxes

We choose the safest combination for each location and time of year. No special request is needed — we’ve got it covered!

📧 Communication & Tracking

​

  • You will receive a tracking number by email or SMS once your label is created.

  • You are responsible for monitoring your tracking and being prepared to pick up the spider promptly.

  • Orders must be picked up within 2 hours of being marked "Ready for Pickup" to qualify for our Live Arrival Guarantee.                                                

💸 Shipping Costs

  • All shipping costs are calculated using Redline Shipping rates.

  • In most cases, Priority Overnight costs between $60–$75, depending on location and box size.

  • We will confirm shipping rates before invoicing.

  • Shipping fees are non-refundable, even in the event of a DOA (Dead on Arrival).                                                                                                                        

🔁 Replacement Shipping in the Event of a DOA

If your spider arrives DOA and all Live Arrival Guarantee conditions are met, we offer a free replacement spider of equal value, based on availability.

  • In most cases, the buyer and AK Spood and Company will split the cost of replacement shipping.

  • If the DOA is determined to be the result of a mistake on our part (e.g., improper packing, shipping outside of safe temperatures without approval, or sending the wrong spider), we will cover the full shipping cost along with the replacement.

 

We do not offer free replacements or shipping if the Live Arrival Guarantee conditions were not met (such as late pickup, unsafe temps at buyer’s request, or residential delivery without approval).

⛔ What We Don't Do


❌ We do not ship outside of the continental U.S.
❌ We do not offer home delivery unless pre-approved
❌ We do not ship in unsafe temperatures
❌ We do not offer rush or same-day shipping

🔄 Delays & Holds


If your order is placed during unsafe weather, on a holiday week, or during high volume (like expos), it may be delayed. We will keep you updated and notify you when it is safe to proceed.

We will never risk the health of a spider to meet a deadline.
