Terms & Live Animal Policy

🔹 Introduction


By purchasing from AK Spood and Company, you agree to the terms outlined below. These policies are designed to protect the safety of the animals, ensure transparency in our processes, and define what we can and cannot guarantee as a live animal seller. We reserve the right to update this page at any time.

🔹 Live Animal Sales


We take great pride in producing healthy, well-cared-for jumping spiders. All live animals are sold as-is, and we provide photos, lineage details, and care resources to help you make an informed purchase.

Due to the sensitive nature of shipping live animals and the care required upon arrival, we do not offer refunds or exchanges, except in the case of a verified DOA (Dead on Arrival) under our Live Arrival Guarantee (LAG).

🔹 Shipping Information


All live animal orders are shipped through Redline Shipping using FedEx Priority Overnight service.

We only ship Monday through Wednesday to avoid weekend delays. Shipments are sent to your nearest FedEx hub for pickup (unless pre-approved for residential delivery). This method ensures a safe, temperature-controlled transfer and minimizes transit time.

We do not ship in unsafe weather conditions. If temperatures at either the origin or destination fall outside our safe range (typically 40°F–85°F), shipping will be postponed until conditions are safe.

Shipping boxes may include heat packs, cold packs, or phase change packs, based on current forecasts. Every shipment is evaluated individually to ensure the best outcome for your spider.

🔹 Live Arrival Guarantee (LAG)


We offer a Live Arrival Guarantee when all of the following conditions are met:

  • The spider is shipped using FedEx Priority Overnight via Redline Shipping

  • The animal is sent to a FedEx hub for pickup

  • The buyer picks up the package within 2 hours of it being marked "Ready for Pickup"

  • The buyer submits photo or video proof of DOA within 1 hour of pickup

  • Shipping temperatures were within our approved safe range at both locations

  • The buyer provided a valid and monitored email and phone number to receive tracking updates                                                                                              

❌ LAG is VOID if:

  • The package is not picked up within 2 hours

  • The animal is shipped to a residential address without prior written approval

  • Shipment is delayed due to carrier error, weather, or mechanical failure

  • The buyer requests shipment outside safe temperature ranges

  • The spider is mishandled or improperly housed after arrival                              

🔹 Refund & Replacement Policy

If a spider arrives DOA and qualifies under our Live Arrival Guarantee:

  • You may choose a replacement spider of equal value (if available), or

  • A refund for the cost of the spider only (shipping is non-refundable)

🚚 Shipping Responsibility for Replacements:

  • If we followed all proper procedures and a DOA occurs, you and AK Spood and Company will split the cost of replacement shipping.

  • If the DOA is found to be due to a mistake on our part (e.g., shipping during unsafe weather without consent, packaging errors, or sending the wrong spider), we will cover both the replacement spider and the full shipping cost.

We do not offer refunds, exchanges, or credits for:

  • Incorrect sex (unless sold as sexed)

  • Size, coloration, or temperament concerns

  • Spiderling developmental stages

  • Accidental injury, escape, or death after arrival                                                    

🔹 Shipping Insurance Disclaimer

Although we use Priority Overnight shipping, it’s important to note:

🚫 FedEx and Redline do not insure live animals against delays, mishandling, or weather-related incidents.
Live animals are explicitly excluded from carrier liability for DOA caused by shipping disruptions.

This is why our Live Arrival Guarantee requires strict compliance with all pickup and temperature guidelines.

🔹 Cancellations

Live animal orders can be canceled before shipping only.
If a label has already been purchased or a box prepared, a 25% cancellation fee will apply.
Orders cannot be canceled or refunded after shipment.

🔹 Your Responsibility as the Buyer

When purchasing from AK Spood and Company, you agree to:

  • Provide a safe, appropriate enclosure

  • Be available to pick up your shipment promptly

  • Follow the care guidance we provide

  • Read and understand all policies before purchasing
